A total of six Garces boys basketball and three from the Garces girls basketball earned Southwest Yosemite League honors.
On the boys side, senior Jack Hatten and junior J.J. Uphold were both named first-team all-league while juniors Ipreye Egbe and Dom D’Amato and senior Xavier Marshall were named second-team. Senior Joseph Campbell was named honorable mention.
For Garces girls, junior Addisyn McMurtrey was named first-team while junior Jasmine Gorman and freshman Mia D’Amato were named honorable mention.
Uphold led Garces with 12.5 points per game and a team-high 9.5 rebounds this season as the Rams (21-10) finished tied for second in the SWYL, won the inaugural South Yosemite Conference tournament championship and advanced to the Central Section Division III semifinals.
Hatten averaged 11.2 points and five rebounds for the Rams while earning MVP honors in the SYC championship game.
Egbe also also averaged double-figures for the Rams with 10.8 points a game.
D’Amato and Marshall both averaged six points per game while Campbell was instrumental coming off the bench as one of the top six-men in Kern County.
McMutrey led the league in scoring this season with 17.9 points per game and grabbed 7.2 rebounds. McMurtry scored more than 20 points in eight games and scored a season-high 32 points against Bakersfield Christian on Dec. 18.
D’Amato averaged 8.2 points and a team-high 9.2 rebounds while Gorman averaged seven points and nearly two steals for the Rams (1-22).
