HONORS: Halevy named SWYL POY, 16 Garces boys, girls soccer players honored

The Garces boys soccer team is well represented in this season’s Southwest Yosemite All-League team, led by junior Alexander Halevy, voted league player of the year.

A total of 12 Garces boys soccer players and four from the Garces girls soccer team were named to the All-SWYL teams.

Halevy led the league with 31 goals and added 17 assists as the Rams went undefeated in league play before winning a second consecutive Central Section championship and earned a berth in the CIF SoCal Division III championships.

Four Rams earned first-team honors.

Sophomore Palmer Bank, who never played goalkeeper before this season, pitched 14 shutouts for Garces (25-3). His twin, Fletcher, was also named first team.

Also named first team was senior Moises Cisneros, who led Garces with 20 assists and scored 20 goals, and junior Elijah Toppila, who had six goals and seven assists.

Four Rams were named second team.

Seniors Aldo Pantoja and Alejandro Garcia and juniors Angel Navarro and Abraham Gonzalez were all named second-team.

Seniors Ebube Ekepmogu, Alvaro Lopez and Gino Butkiewicz were all named honorable mention.

Sophomore Stevie Reynolds was named second-team All-SWYL for Garces girls soccer.

Junior Maia Cinquemani and sophomore Allie Arretche and Gaby Guerrero were named SWYL honorable mention.
