Fueled by a hat-trick by senior Natalina Antongiovanni, the Garces girls soccer team made the most of the home opener on Thursday.
The Rams beat North 5-0 to move to 2-0 overall.
Antongiovanni scored the first goal for the Rams within the first three minutes in front of the home crowd at Sam Tobias Field and sophomore Stevie Reynolds scored moments later to five Garces a quick and commanding 2-0 lead.
“We started hard early and were able to get a lot of girls some playing time and work on differently formational stuff,” Garces coach Caitlin Witwer said. “It was nice.”
Antongiovanni and Reynolds again scored within moments of each other midway through the first half and the Rams led 4-0 at the half.
Antongiovanni scored her third goal within the first five minutes of the second half as senior Mia Sill pitched her second shutout this week after the Rams beat Tehachapi 2-0 on Tuesday.
“It was really fun,” Antongiovanni said. “Getting a hat trick and sharing it with my teammates is just great.”
Reynolds added an assist for Garces, as did Sophia Curtuchague, Ava Kirkorian and Gabriella Guerrero.
